Billy Jealousy's Hydroplane Shaving Cream was one of the very first products we launched online back in 2012 and over the years, its popularity has slowly risen. However, I'm ashamed to say that until recently, I'd actually never tried it! With more and more guys asking questions about this shaving cream and interested in adding it to their own male grooming routine's, I think now is the right time to fill you in on everything that the product has to offer and how I've faired with it over the past fortnight.

Many of you who already follow my skin care blog will know that I regularly go for that 'beardy bloke' look. It's not often I trim my facial hair that short and I'm much more likely to use a beard oil and shampoo than I am a shaving cream of post shave balm for example. However, that's not to say that I don't have a need for shaving cream. I like to keep a defined and distinct line both under my beard and down my cheeks, so every few days I partake in a little at home shaving, to keep these lines nice and tidy.

For years now, I've been using Jack Black's clear Beard Lube, but in an ultimate mix up mid-March, I decided to go off plan and give Billy Jealousy's Hydroplane a shot, after learning that it too was a foamless and clear formula. Most guys who want to shape their facial hair prefer a foamless shave cream, as they can see exactly where they're shaving and I'm no different. In fact, I'd say that it's definitely a growing trend for men to stick to these types of creams, rather than a 90's style Gillette foam that turns your face into mount Everest.

I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth my razor glided over my skin after applying Billy Jealousy's Hydroplane Shave Cream and activating it with just a little bit of water. I've been using the Marram Co Modern Razor after receiving it as a gift in January and when partnered together, I experienced no tugging or pulling during shaving. After digging a little deeper, it's down to an infusion of micro-silicone that ensures a really smooth razor glide.

This shaving product is essentially three products in one, as I found it instantly softened my bristly facial hair immediately after putting it on my face, similar to that of a pre-shave oil. Aside from it obviously being a shaving cream too, I also found it to have very powerful moisturising power, similar to that of a post-shave moisturiser. With a blend of natural fruit oils that replenished my skin's moisture, my complexion was left feeling supple, smooth and definitely less tight.

Did this men's shaving cream give me a close shave? 100% and with my skin left so smooth, it really was a pleasure to behold. I found it very easy to wash out too and it didn't affect the performance of my favourite beard oil or change its application or texture in the slightest. All I did was rinse my beard well and pat dried my skin, which let me finish my shave in style.

As soon as you apply this shaving cream, you'll instantly notice its peppermint aroma. It feel so energising and revitalising and when its combined with grapefruit and lime, even on a Monday morning, it'll kick you into gear. This shaving cream is a fantastic all rounder and if you're looking for energy, ease of use and razor precision - it delivers all three in an absolute abundance.
