Men's Skin Care Q & A: Tired Looking Eyes
This week, we're responding to a very common question posed by our male grooming followers, with that being the issue of tired looking eyes and dark circles. As a man over 30, James is looking for some suitable products and methods to hide such problems. Check out his issues below and how MaleSkin could save your complexion confidence with just a few strategic moves. Remember gentlemen, if you have any men's skin care concerns that you would like answered, please do get in touch and the team here will do all we can to alleviate your fears and point you in the direction of some of our wonder products. So, the story goes….
Hi Lucy… I am 32 years old and for several years have experienced problems with dark circles and puffiness under my eyes. Naturally this is worse when I've had a bad night's sleep or heavy night out, however I think it may also be inherited as my Dad has the same problem. For a couple of years now I have used a combination of Clinique for Men anti-age eye cream followed by L'Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Eye Roll-On each morning and each evening and this has generally kept it reasonably under control.
However, recently this no longer doing the trick and the skin around my eyes is starting to look a bit 'elasticated'! I was hoping for some assistance in alternatives. A few people have mentioned Dermatologica Intensive Eye Repair but I'm open to any suggestion whether this be a combination of treatments or just a single solution and also advise on other - more natural - things I can do to help this problem.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Hi James… Thank you for getting back to me, if it's the eye area I can certainly help. The Clinique For Men is a good quality eye cream, but personally I feel it's over rated. As for the Eye Roll on, it's again okay, but there are far better options out there I believe.
Firstly, it's very natural for your eyes to become elasticated, especially as you pass through your early thirties. They will also, as you say, become more prone to darkness if you miss your full quota of sleep, or have a few extra drinks on a night out. The good news is - we can help! By starting with Polaar Men's Triple Action Eye Serum, applied underneath your eyes, you'll begin the regeneration of your under eye tissue, with it firming up and beginning to look younger and more healthy once more. This super-charged serum contains active ingredients to support the structure of this very delicate skin and are actually quite potent, qualities needed when you need to revive slightly older skin.
Now, as you say, it is very common for dark circles on men to be hereditary. When it comes to tackling them completely, the best thing I can advise is to combine this Triple Action Eye Serum with an under eye concealer for men. There are many on the market, including YSL's Touche Eclat Homme and MYEGO's Cover Select. However, there really is only one winner in my book and that is MMUK MAN's Under Eye Concealer For Men. If you have pale skin, go for the N3 option, if it's Caucasian, N5 and if you have slightly tanned skin, I would go for N7. You can always send me in a recent photo if you are unsure of the right skin tone to go for.
Letting your Triple Action Eye Serum dry for about thirty seconds, gently dab on the Under Eye Concealer and blend it in with your finger tip. Within a few seconds, you will see the instant enhancement and be feeling much better about yourself. I'd say with this technique and choice of products, you're really adapting to what your skin demands as you hit your thirties and there's never any harm in doing so with more specialist products.
I hope this advice was helpful and look forward to speaking to you soon. Regards, Lucy
